What is Suicidality?

Suicidality is the thought of taking one's life, having a plan of suicide, or having previous suicide attempts. Suicidal ideation is one of the symptoms of major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder. Suicidal ideation may also occur in people with other mental illness or no mental illness at all. There are two kinds of suicidal ideation: Active and Passive. Passive suicidal ideation is having the thoughts of suicide, but no active plan of suicide.
